Hundreds join fun run to fight against waste in Padre Burgos

PADRE BURGOS – To show support for a greener future, hundreds of participants gathered on Saturday early morning at the town’s plaza for a “Run for Zero Waste Padre Burgos” fun run aimed at raising awareness and funds for its environmental conservation.

Runners from different places like Albuera, Hilongos, Limasawa, Sogod, and Maasin hit the streets early morning, with the event featuring 3K and 5K courses through the locality.

According to SK Pambayang Pederasyon ng Padre Burgos facebook page, the activity was initiated by the local youth development council through its President Allen Dave Buhat, Vice President Roland Carten, and of course their active LYDO Designate Keisha Elezze Batalon, in close collaboration with Youth for Resilience Network, MENRO, and Pambayang Pederasyon ng Sangguniang Kabataan.

Funds raised through registration fees, donations, and sponsorships will be directed to local projects focused on reforestation, wildlife preservation, and plastic waste reduction initiatives.

Among the winners of the race are the following:
