MACROHON, SOUTHERN LEYTE – The Department of Public Works and Highways Southern Leyte 1st District engineering Office reports the completion of the road widening project along Ichon, Macrohon, Southern Leyte with a total cost of Fifty-Three Million Pesos (Php 53,000,000.00).
The widened road, which is located in Barangay Ichon in Macrohon, spans 2.536 lane kilometers, having a width of 3.35 meters and a thickness of 0.28 meters. The scope of work also included 1,357.24 square meters of drainage and slope protection structure.
“Road widening projects enhance transportation efficiency, reduce travel time and cost, improve road safety, and create opportunities for the economic growth of the province”, District Engineer Manolo A. Rojas said.
“The project also helps in making the road safer by providing additional space and reducing accidents in the area,” DE Rojas added.
Road widening project increases the capacity of a roadway to handle more vehicles, reducing congestion, saving travel time, improving safety and making it easier for drivers to navigate through unfamiliar areas.
