Two Lawmakers vow continued support for Maasin City LGU

MAASIN CITY – Two legislators have reaffirmed their unwavering support and commitment to the local government of Maasin and its people, especially in seeking fund for any developmental projects that will boost the tourism and economy here and in Southern Leyte province in general.

Senator Imee Marcos, who has always been in Maasin City for every big celebration, told the crowd that Southern Leyte is close to her heart because of some sentimental projects by his father, the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., who was the one who approved the first-ever university, referring to the Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), which now has five campuses and the Southern Leyte’s provincial hospital.

“Masyado kayong malapit sa pamilya namin, panahon ng tatay ko and siyempre I love Leyte and Southern Leyte kay akon mama bisaya gihapon. Sana’y di kayo magsawa sa akin. Happy birthday Maasin City,” the senator said.

The senator also disclosed during her speech that she always look out for the welfare of Southern Leyte by providing around 31-million pesos in allocation for Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS); 30 million Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CGMP); among her social programs and infra-tourism projects.

Meanwhile, Las Piñas Congresswoman Camille Villar, who is also the guest of honor during the cityhood anniversary, said that Maasinhons can always count on her and their family in whatever kind of help or assistance they can extend for the community.

“From the time of my papa, Senator Manny Villar, my mom Senator Cynthia Villar and my brother Mark Villar, we have always loved and supported the people of Maasin and we look forward to bringing more help. Lahat po ng tulong na maari naming ibigay, kasama po kami sa pag-unlad. Lahat ng programa, ka-partner po ang pamilya namin.

The two legislators expressed their gratitude for the opportunity given to them to celebrate with the people of Maasin in its 24th Charter Day celebration.
