DPWH SL1DEO completes 50-M concrete barrier in Maasin City

MAASIN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways Southern Leyte 1st District Engineering Office proudly announces the completion of the construction of flood control structure in Barangay Bogo, Maasin City that helps mitigate the impact of flooding in the area. 

The appropriation cost of this project amounts to Fifty Million Pesos (Php 50,000,000.000), spanning 325 linear meters stone masonry with reinforced concrete facing and apron. The construction of this concrete barrier is a practical solution to the problem of overflowing and erosion that posed danger to dwellers near rivers.

According to District Engineer Manolo A. Rojas, “Flood control structures contribute to the economic growth of Maasin City as the heart of the province of Southern Leyte as it lessens harm to infrastructure and livelihood of the residents, ensuring the continuation of economic growth and social activities of the community.”

The flood control structure is the permanent solution to safeguard the lives and properties of the residents living near rivers and other flood-prone areas. (Press Release)
