MAASIN CITY — Not all candidates in Southern Leyte who ran for provincial office were able to submit their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures or SOCE on time – a mandatory post-election requirement of the Commission on Election (COMELEC). This was explained by Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Antonio Gulay.
According to the official, there’s this one candidate running for congressional seat in the first district who did not meet the deadline on Wednesday, June 11.
Gulay strictly explained that his office will enforce the June 11, 2025 as the last day for their SOCE receipt and no extension will be allowed.
It is worth noting that under the Omnibus Election Code, all candidates (whether winning or losing) are required by law to submit their SOCEs and those who fail to comply will face penalties.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) may bar the winning candidate from assuming office, while the losers may be fined.
