On October 5, 2024, Sogod Bay Scuba Resort conducted a coral reef restoration project in collaboration with Plongeurs du Monde and the SLSU \u2013 Bioresource Production Technology Center, involving 14 students from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and Fisheries program. The team assessed the health and growth of transplanted coral fragments and nursery-grown corals, looking for signs of stress, disease, or predation. They cleaned algae, managed and removed any corallivorous fish or invertebrates that could harm the young coral colonies, and ensured that underwater frames, ropes, and other structures securing the coral transplants remained stable. Detailed records were maintained to monitor coral health, growth rates, mortality, and other key data to track restoration progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
