In a significant step toward inclusive healthcare, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Maasin Office, in collaboration with the City Health Unit (CHU) and Communication Network (ComNet), has launched the e-KonSulTa (Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama) assisted registration program today, September 12, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative provides free medical consultations and essential medicines to sixty-two (62) Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), ensuring they receive much-needed medical attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For alyas \u201cJunjun\u201d, a PDL who expressed his appreciation, the check-up serves as a lifeline, providing much-needed medical attention to them – individuals who often feel neglected by society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the launching of e-KonSulTa, PDLs voiced their thanks to those who initiated the program, which prioritizes their health despite their difficult circumstances. Romulo Carbonilla, PhilHealth\u2019s Information Officer, emphasized that the initiative aims to extend vital medical services to inmates, a group often overlooked in terms of healthcare access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The E-KonSulTa platform, designed by PhilHealth, offers an easy and accessible way for PDLs to register for health insurance coverage, ensuring that even those behind bars can benefit from medical services. In addition to free consultations and medicines, the PDLs were also issued PhilHealth IDs, symbolizing their inclusion in the healthcare system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The City Health Unit, led by Dr. Francilisa Tan and Dr Ana Liza Loquinte, played a key role in bringing much-needed healthcare to the facility, as many inmates have limited access to medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, Jail Inspector Ronel Abinguna said he is thankful not only for the medical support but also for the message it sends\u2014that even those behind bars are not forgotten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abinguna also expressed hope that the jail facility will eventually secure a more spacious environment for the PDLs, particularly for those with health conditions like hypertension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring my administration, I hope we can provide the inmates with more space for physical activities, which is essential for their well-being,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collaboration between PhilHealth, the City Health Unit, and ComNet is a testament to the importance of inclusive healthcare, demonstrating that even the most marginalized members of society, such as PDLs, deserve care and attention<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
